Celebrate St. Patty's Day with this quick, easy, and super delicious St. Patty's Day Muddy Buddies recipe!
Hey, y'all! Can you believe it's already March? March! That's insane! I know it's super cliche but it seems like we just celebrated Christmas, doesn't it? I'm a huge fan of quick and easy treats (heck, I'm a fan of quick and easy anything!) like my Luck of the Irish S'more Leprechaun Hats and Chocolate Covered Bunny Butts.
Last year I made an absolutely insane Hippity Hop Mix (recipe coming soon!) for a few of my co-workers. It was such a hit that I decided to create a similar recipe for St. Patrick's Day. One of my favorite things about this recipe, aside from the fact that it's insanely easy, is that it is gluten-free. Shout out to my GF Friends out there! I do have to warn you that this stuff is dangerously addictive. You won't be able to stop eating this delicious snack!
The recipe couldn't be any easier. You simply melt a bag of chocolate melts in a medium-size bowl. Afterward, you add a teaspoon of vanilla to the chocolate and stir in a few cups of Chex Mix until they are coated evenly. Next, you toss the Chex Mix into a bag with 2 cups of Powdered Sugar and give it a good shake. Allow the chocolate to cool and serve or store in an airtight container until later.
These little guys make a great gift for your co-workers and friends. In fact, that's exactly what I'm doing with this batch! I put a bit of mix into a small mason jar and tied a little green ribbon around it.
Green Chocolate Melts
Check out these free printables that are great for attaching to the top of sandwich size or rectangular snack size plastic bags! Simply click on the image to download the printable to your computer. Print it off, in color, and use the boxes (available in downloads 1, 2, and 4) to trim the printable down to size. Fold the printable in half, longways, and staple or tape to the top of a zip top bag.
1 bag green chocolate melts
5 cups of Chex Mix (I used Rice)
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups powdered sugar
1. Melt the green chocolate melts according to the package instructions. I prefer the double boiler method.
2. Add 1 tsp vanilla to the melted chocolate and stir.
3. Pour 5 cups of Chex Mix into a large pour. Cover with melted chocolate. Stir to combine.
4. Add 2 cups of powdered sugar to a gallon size ziptop bag.
5. Place chocolate covered Chex Mix into the bag with sugar. Shake vigorously until the mix is completely coated.
6. Pour Chex Mix out onto a piece of wax paper to allow the chocolate to cool.
7. Store in an airtight container.
